Topic: “Hospice Care: Right Time, Right Person”
The goal of hospice programs is to provide end-of-life care that most people really want – comfort care in the home. Patients are eligible for hospice care when the prognosis is less than six months. But, how can you make a reasonable prediction of life expectancy? This presentation will provide an overview of how hospice physicians determine when a person is eligible for care and barriers to entering hospice care stemming from cultural beliefs about death and dying as well as misconceptions about hospice.
