If you are a Veteran or surviving spouse, you may qualify for financial assistance.
Guest speaker Joseph Reiley, from Veteran’s Services of Lane County, will be discussing the Aid & Attendance Benefit.
What is Aid and Attendance?
Aid and Attendance is a type of pension benefit created by the United States Veterans Health Administration (VA). A qualified veteran or surviving spouse, may receive a monthly pension if he/she is a wartime veteran with limited income, and is permanently and totally disabled or a least 65 years old.
The veteran must have served at least 90 days in active duty with at least one day served during wartime and was honorably discharged. The beneficiary must be currently receiving nursing care or aid and attendance services. Some income restrictions apply.
Anyone can help the veteran pull together the information they will need and fill out the application. This can be: organizations chartered by Congress and/or recognized by VA for claim representation, an agent recognized by VA (a state or county Veterans Service Officer), or a licensed lawyer.
