Sundown Squad’s Sing-Off Competition – Final Round @ Facebook Live
Jun 20 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Sundown Squad's Sing-Off Competition - Final Round @ Facebook Live

The Sundown Squad is a group of local advocates that have joined forces to help raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association – OR/SW Washington Chapter. As we know, the world in 2020 was not the same with the COVID-19 pandemic. Sadly, restrictions are still in place and as much as we would love to host our Summertime Block Party at Esther Short Park, we will not be doing so this year. We know some businesses have struggled throughout the year, and we wanted to make it an inexpensive and easy way for you to show your support.

We have come up with another FUN way to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association – OR/SW Washington Chapter. The Sundown Squad will be hosting a local Sing-Off Competition for Ages 12+. Contestants will join in and sing their hearts out, while also competing against up to 75 total participants. We will be hosting 4 rounds, with each round featuring up to 25 contestants. Our contestants will be judged by our 3 prestigious judges, including Barbara Richardson from Metropolitan Performing Arts, Blake Sakamoto from The Nu Wavers Band, and battle their way into our Final Round with 10 other contestants on June 20th, 2021!

Each round 3 contestants will be selected to join the final round. During round 3, viewers will have the chance to vote for their favorite contestant, rounding out our Top 10! Each contestant who does not go on to the Final Round will be given a gift card for participating. Our Top 3 will win our grand prizes!

Together, we will have fun, raise funds and awareness for care and support while advancing research in an effort to help end Alzheimer’s and other dementia. Your contribution will help the Alzheimer’s Association in their mission to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

To register for the event, follow the link below and complete the registration information. In order to register for the event, you must choose between these two options:

Option 1. Register to join Team Sundown Squad and make your donation of $25.00. All participants who join the team and make their donation will receive a Longest Day T-Shirt! Additional incentive prizes can also be won by helping to raise funds for the association.

OR

Option 2. Register to start your own team with an opening donation of $25.00 or more. All participants who create their team and make their donation of $25.00 will receive a Longest Day T-Shirt! Additional incentive prizes can also be won by helping to raise funds for the association.
*** When creating your own team, please make sure your team name starts with “SS Sing-Off” in order to track your participation with the Sundown Squad Team.

Topic: 2021 Oregon Long Term Care Medicaid Changes
There have been big changes to the Medicaid application process this year. These include a new way for applicants to apply for services and new documents to fill out. Meredith will discuss these changes and how she sees they are impacting clients and service providers. In addition to the changes, Meredith will also review the application process, qualification criteria, and planning techniques.

Speaker: Meredith Williamson is a client-focused attorney specializing in estate planning, elder law, and probate. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon and Law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. She is member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Oregon State Bar, and California State Bar. She started NW Estate Law, LLC six years. Prior to that, she worked in California as a litigation attorney and co-owned and managed a referral agency and resource guide for seniors.

Meredith is the legal editor of the Oregon State Bar’s 2012 publication Legal Issues for Older Adults, a guest speaker on the Oregon State Bar’s Legal Podcast, contributor to LegalLinks, and contributor to The Senior List. In addition to her legal practice, Meredith is a board member with the Senior Provider Information Network and volunteers with the parent teacher association at her children’s school.

Important information about CEU Credits: Oregon Health Authority no longer pre-approves CEU’s. Go to https://bit.ly/2to0nwB to determine if this presentation will count towards annual CEU requirement for Nursing and Residential Care administrators.
